CNSNews, an online news outlet designed to provide balanced reporting on issues of local, national, and international significance, features commentary by Mary Grabar, “China’s COVID Cover-Up Mirrors Rewriting of Communist History in US Classrooms.”  The article centers on the politics of the COVID-19 contagion and the attempted cover-up by outlets in the United States of Chinese culpability in unleashing it.

In the article, Dr. Grabar, Resident Fellow of The Alexander Hamilton Institute for the Study of Western Civilization (AHI), expresses concern about the ignorance of a “disturbingly large percentage of Americans” about the nature of Communism since Chinese irresponsibility in handling the contagion is explicable in the nature of the regime itself.  She references a Victims of Communism poll that revealed “more than one in three millennials viewed communism favorably, and a rapidly growing percentage of those under 40 are willing to vote not only socialist but communist. . . Generation Z and millennials were much more likely to report getting a favorable presentation of communism, in grades K-12 (23 and 25 percent, respectively), and in college (36 and 37 percent).”

Mary Grabar earned her PhD from the University of Georgia and taught college English for 20 years. She is the author of the book Debunking Howard Zinn: Exposing the Fake History That Turned a Generation against America (August, 2019).
