“The United States Constitution,” observed Richard Epstein, one of the most cited legal scholars of his generation, “must, on any neutral evaluation, count as the greatest triumph of political statecraft in the history of the World.”  To commemorate this great triumph, the Constitution’s framing and signing, Congress passed legislation in 2004 that set aside September 17 as a special day of remembrance.

On Constitution Day 2021 The Alexander Hamilton Institute for the Study of Western Civilization (AHI) will be celebrating its fourteenth birthday.  AHI senior fellow Joseph Fornieri, professor of political science at the Rochester Institute of Technology, will deliver the Fourteenth Annual David Aldrich Nelson Lecture in Constitutional Jurisprudence on “Freedom for the Thought We Hate.”

The lecture honors Judge Nelson, a charter member of AHI’s board of directors who had a distinguished career as a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.  The event will take place on campus from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm in Carlson Hall, Bldg. 76, Room 1125.

For those unable to attend, please join our Zoom meeting  https://rit.zoom.us/j/92911167238.  The meeting ID is 929 1116 7238.  A video of the event will subsequently be available on AHI’s YouTube site.

He will introduce AHI resident fellow Mary Grabar.  She will discuss her new book Debunking the 1619 Project: Exposing the Plan to Divide America (Regnery 2021).  Dr. Grabar’s book has already soared to “#1 New Release” status on Amazon. Signed hardcover copies will be available at the discounted price of $22 each.

AHI has partnered with more than twenty other groups to endorse the publication by The Heritage Foundation of The Essential Constitution. Copies will be available free of charge to any individual or group that wants them.

Food and refreshments will be available.
