Robert Paquette, Executive Director of the Alexander Hamilton Institute for the Study of Western Civilization (AHI), was recently quoted in a TIME story on free speech on campus. In the article “The Fight Over Free Speech on Campus Isn’t Just About Free Speech,” Paquette relays that students have confided in him that they are afraid to speak their own mind in class out of fear.

Paquette states “And I’ve raised the question,” he says. “You mean to tell me at Hamilton College you’re paying $65,000 a year to censor yourself? What kind of education is that?”

The article documents a number of college free speech cases that have gone wrong. It also discusses the more fundamental conflict as students on college campuses try to both understand,  as well as put an end to, discrimination while trying to preserve free speech.
